Finfix Case Study

Created a stress-free,
guided debt repayment journey.

🧠 Project Summary

Finfix is a mobile app that focuses on how to pay off multiple loans in a short period of time. It uses AI-powered financial coaching, creates custom repayment plans, and tracks real-time progress, so it takes the emotional toll on how to manage your debt. Finfix empowers users to see their financial picture clearly and reduce the mental burden of borrowing money.

🧩 Role & Responsibilities

Timeline: 4-5 Months

Role: Discovery, Research Synthesis, Design Sprint, Prototype Validation

I designed and validated the debt management journey from the beginning - making repayment easier and less stressful by guiding users through personalized tasks.

Problem Statement

Managing multiple debts can be overwhelming for users. They often don't know which debt to pay off first or how to stay on track, which can lead to confusion and anxiety.

🎯 Objectives

Key Insights from Interviews

"I never know if I’m doing it right."
"Debt feels like a mess that I avoid looking at."

πŸ” Research Methodology

Stakeholder Interviews

Goal: Understand how product success is measured (retention, repayment rates).

Insight: The app’s success is defined by consistent user engagement and a reduction in missed payments.

User Interviews (Behavioral Segmentation)

We interviewed 10 users across three different financial mindsets:

Avoiders – 60% of Avoiders never checked their loan balances because it caused significant emotional stress.

Optimizers – 40% of Optimizers felt motivated but overwhelmed by complex repayment methods, like the Avalanche method.

Survivors – Struggling to make ends meet, unsure how to start managing debt.

πŸ’‘ Ideation

Personalized Debt Strategies

Users can choose between the snowball or avalanche methods and customize repayment plans based on their specific needs.

Progress Visualization

A visual tracker that helps users see the impact of each payment, reinforcing positive behavior and progress.

Motivational Nudges

Notifications that celebrate small victories and remind users of the emotional benefits of staying on track to repay debt.

During the ideation process, we aimed to create a design that not only handled the numerical aspects of debt but also addressed the emotional aspects of debt management. The focus was on simplifying the user experience while ensuring that users felt empowered, in control, and supported.
